They are aware of the fire
insurance that has gone up... We need to petition to get a Volunteer
Fire Dept. Started here.. We will need 2 acres and Waller country will
fund the dept once we can get the 2 acres..
They also talked about our
trash pick up payment moving to our MUD invoice every month. Come the
next MUD district meeting we will have a rep. on the board, his name is
Mark... Which will be about $16 or so dollars a month for the same
service we currently have.. They also have changed electric companies
for the street lights to help keep cost down...

A lunch for all you WCF retirees and stay at homers...
Ladies and Gents,
If you're retired or you're at home, we have a deal for you....
We're getting together for lunch at Los Cucos (US 90 and Ave D in Old Katy) on Tuesday, 4/17, at 11:30 am.
There are many of us that are at home that are interested in getting together with our age group. So come join us and be a part of it. RSVP to Dolores (kanddcox@live.com) by Friday, 4/14.
If you have neighborhood friends that are not on the computer, please invite them to join us.
The main purpose for this get together is to introduce the men to each other so maybe they will start their own little breakfast group or other activities within the community.

Allergies and Bugs...
Because of our really hot summer, less than cold fall and winter, the pollen and bug count is and will be up... So I thought I would give yall some helpful ideas for bugs.. If you have any tricks please feel free to share...
TIPS: Put the trap in a dark and humid place for 2 weeks, you'll see the effect. You'll have to replace the sugar water + yeast solution every 2 weeks.

Because mosquitoes are attracted to the CO2 we breathe out, I started looking for ideas that used CO2 as the bait for the mosquito trap. I did think of dry ice but it does dissipate fairly quickly.
I found a cached link on Google here. It seems to be active again now. I've rewritten the instructions some and hopefully it will work as well.
Thanks to the students for their hard work on this project. I've used some of their photos for illustration.
Supplies:
- 1 2 liter soda bottle
- a sharp knife
- black paper
- tape
- candy thermometer
Take a 2 liter soda bottle. Cut off the top right below where it starts to narrow for the top, invert and place inside the lower half.
Make a simple sugar syrup.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups cool water
- 1 tsp. active dry yeast
Directions:
Bring 1 cup of the water to a boil.
Dissolve the sugar into the boiling water.
Once the sugar is dissolved completely, remove the pan from the heat. Stir in 2 cups cool water, stir well.
Check the temperature of the syrup to make sure it is no hotter than 90 degrees F, if hotter, let cool to 90 degrees F, add 1 tsp. active dry yeast, no need to mix. Put syrup in the bottom part of the bottle, using the cut off neck piece, leave in place.
Be sure to seal the two parts of the bottle with the tape. The fermenting yeast will release carbon dioxide. Put black paper around the bottle since mosquitoes like dark places and carbon dioxide. This mosquito trap will then start working.TIPS: Put the trap in a dark and humid place for 2 weeks, you'll see the effect. You'll have to replace the sugar water + yeast solution every 2 weeks.
